Casey Affleck Weighs In On Sexual Assault Allegations After Best Actor Oscar

Casey Affleck is addressing the elephant in the room after his Oscar win for Best Actor.

The 41-year-old star, who took home the award for his role in 'Manchester by the Sea', has been plagued with sexual harassment allegations from a 2010 lawsuit filed by two women who worked with him on 'I'm Still Here'.

After his win, actor BJ Novak half-jokingly asked on social media: "Can we check Best Actor again."

Affleck denied any wrongdoing but settled both lawsuits, which were filed for $2 million and one for $2.25 million, out of court for undisclosed amounts. However, the settlements following amid multiple accusations have been seen as an admission of guilt by some in the industry.

On Tuesday, Affleck told the Boston Globe that: "I believe that any kind of mistreatment of anyone for any reason is unacceptable and abhorrent, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect in the workplace and anywhere else."

"There's really nothing I can do about it," he said of the backlash. "Other than live my life the way I know I live it and to speak to what my own values are and how I try to live by them all the time."
