'Breaking Bad' and 'Modern Family' Win Top Emmy Awards

'Breaking Bad' and 'Modern Family' took the top honors at the Emmy Awards on Monday night.

'Breaking Bad's final season took the best drama award along with a trio of acting honors for its stars while 'Modern Family' won its fifth best comedy series Emmy, tying a record held by 'Frasier'.

'Bad's Bryan Cranston bested Matthew McConaughey's turn in 'True Detective' for best actor in a drama and co-stars Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn pocketed the best supporting actor awards.

"Thank you for this wonderful farewell to our show," said 'Breaking Bad' creator Vince Gilligan.

'The Big Bang Theory' star Jim Parsons was named best comedy series actor for his fourth Emmy playing Sheldon. Julia Louis-Dreyfus won best comedy actress for 'Veep'. She exchanged fake kisses with Cranston for laughs after winning.

Meanwhile, host Seth Meyers played it safe as he kept the night moving at a brisk pace.
