'Blade Runner' Sequel To Be Titled 'Blade Runner 2049'

The much anticipated 'Blade Runner' sequel slated for next year will be titled 'Blade Runner 2049'.

We already know the film will see Harrison Ford reprise his role as Rick Deckard with a cast that includes Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Ana de Armas and Dave Bautista.

Few details have been released other than the film will be set several decades after the 1982 original with the setting once again being a dystopian Los Angeles.

And the new title confirms this since the Ridley Scott-directed original begins in 2019.

Hampton Fancher, who turned Philip K. Dick's 1968 novel into the 'Blade Runner' screenplay also returns, and had some advice for new director Denis Villeneuve.

"He told me that Blade Runner was a dream. We just have to dream again and not worry too much about logic," Villeneuve tells EW. "That removed so much pressure and gave me the key to move forward."

'Blade Runner 2049' has a release date of October 6, 2017.
