Billy Bush's Lawyer Says He Risked Firing If He Rebuked Trump

Billy Bush's lawyer is defending the former 'Today' co-host's lewd exchange with Donald Trump, saying he would've risked being fired from 'Access Hollywood' in 2005 if he went against the real estate mogul.

Marshall Grossman says Bush would have been fired if he told Trump, who was then star of 'The Apprentice', that he shouldn't be talking like that.

"If Billy had been passive or responded 'Shut the f--k up' to Trump, Billy would have been out of a job the next day," says Grossman.

Bush has been off the 'Today' show since tape of the hot mic exchange in which Trump boasted about making sexual advances to married women and grabbing their genitals, went public.

After the footage surfaced, Bush said: "Obviously I'm embarrassed and ashamed. It's no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago — I was younger, less mature and acted foolishly in playing along. I'm very sorry."

His image has already been taken off the NBC morning show's billboards and he is negotiating the final details of his exit.
