Bill Cosby Lawyers Claim He's 'Legally Blind' and Can't Identify Accusers

Bill Cosby's lawyers are claiming that their client is "legally blind" and thus is unable to identify his accusers.

"No 79-year-old blind man could possibly defend himself against a claim that he sexually assaulted someone he supposedly met once, half a century ago," the attorneys claim in their most recent filing.

"Without his eyesight, Mr. Cosby cannot even determine whether he has ever even seen some of his accusers, let alone develop defenses and gather exculpatory evidence."

They blame prosecutors for choosing "to turn this case into a platform for Mr. Cosby's other accusers to air their even staler, long-ago time-barred claims that were never reported to authorities."

Cosby is facing three charges of felony indecent assault and possibly a decade in prison from an 2004 incident in which he allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted Andrea Constand.

The lawyers say Cosby will provide a doctor's report to confirm his "legally blind" status at the pretrial, which is to begin on November 1. The trial date is presently set for June 5.
