Warner Bros. Confirms Ben Affleck To Star & Direct Standalone Batman Film

Earlier this month we reported that 'Batman v Superman' star Ben Affleck had written a solo Batman movie.

Now Warner Bros. has announced that it is in fact moving forward with the feature that will see Affleck not only star as the caped crusader but also write and direct.

DC Comics is hoping the standalone Batman film will help make up its expanded cinematic universe, similar to that of Marvel.

It already has 'Suicide Squad', 'Wonder Woman' and 'Justice League' on its slate. The move is also a sign that Warner Bros. isn't shying away after 'Batman v Superman' failed to meet expectations at the box office.

It has a record setting opening weekend. However, the film has succumbed to mixed reviews since then and was surpassed by 'The Boss' in just its third week this past weekend.

The studio made the announcement at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Along with the aforementioned films, it also has the 'The Lego Batman Movie' and Harry Potter spinoff 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' in its lineup.
