'Bachelor' Producer Fired For Having Affair With Contestant

Teasers before the season premiere of 'The Bachelor' promised a 'shocking scandal' with one of the contestants involved in a "sexual affair with somebody else in the Bachelor house."

And even though he's been through just about every twist in the book, host Chris Harrison says when they discovered a contestant was having an affair with a producer on the show, it was one of the most 'uncomfortable' moments he's ever had.

"It was embarrassing for us... incredibly unfortunate, and horrible decisions were made," Harrison says in an interview. "This is something that we took very seriously and it's something that we couldn't just sit by."

Harrison said that the two 'found time' to have 'relations' while filming last fall. The producer was eventually fired and the contestant was booted off the show. The two have not been named yet but the drama will play out on the show next week.

"With things in the past, we've been like, 'Let's just let the Bachelor or Bachelorette find out for themselves.' We usually tow that line," explains Harrison. "But in fairness to Jake and for the other women, we had to nip this in the bud and take care of it. And that's what we did."

"There's train wrecks in this show where I'm like, 'Oh, it's going to be great. Let's let them have it.' But I felt bad for everybody, and it was an uncomfortable ordeal."

"This was the rare time that before I had to go talk to the girl, Jake and then the women, I had lawyers, psychologists, producers, executives saying, 'Okay, these are the words you can say,'" he recalls. "It was intense. It was a wild night."

"It was very unfortunate that two adults decided to selfishly make the decisions they made. They forced me and the show into a very tough spot."

As for the question of whether the unnamed producer and contestant are still together.

"I don't know. It's a good question. Would that count on our tally as one of our couples?," he jokes.

This isn't the first time The Bachelor has faced scandal. 'The Bachelorette's Ed Swiderski cheated on Jillian Harris while filming and had two girlfriends at the time he proposed. Before that, in March, Bachelor star Jason Mesnick dumped ex-fiance Melissa Rycroft on national television, after picking her at the final rose ceremony, for fellow finalist Molly Malaney.

Texas pilot and cliche king Jake Pavelka is this season's 'Bachelor'.

The woman has been revealed to be 28-year-old model and make-up artist Rozlyn Papa (see photo and her response to being booted off the show).
