'Avengers' Wins Second Week With $103 Million, Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide

For the second weekend in a row, Marvel's 'The Avengers' handily beat out its box office competition.

The superhero film earned an estimated $103.2 million domestically, compared to 'Dark Shadows' $28.8 million, and $95.4 million overseas.

The strong haul helped 'The Avengers' up its total to $1 billion after just 19 days of release, matching the record set by 'Avatar' and 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2'.

The final 'Harry Potter' film grossed $1.32 billion in global ticket sales, while 'Avatar' finished with a record $2.8 billion.
