'Avengers' Clark Gregg To Reprise Role For 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV Series

'Avengers' Clark Gregg, who also appeared in the 'Iron Man' and 'Thor' films, will reprise his role as Agent Phil Coulson in the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' television series.

It's unclear how Agent Coulson's character will be brought back into the fold after his death in the Marvel blockbuster at the hands of Loki.

But it's possible the series is set in the past or another timeline altogether so as to not interfere with 'Avengers' or the current Marvel universe.

Joss Whedon, who wrote and directed the film, will be executive producing and penning the project with his brother, Jed.

ABC ordered a pilot for the superhero series, centered around secret military law enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D, in late August and it has already begun development.
