'Avatar 2' Begins Filming This Fall, Says Sigourney Weaver

After years of delays, Sigourney Weaver says 'Avatar 2' will finally begin filming this fall.

"We're starting!," she tells THR. "We're starting training and we will be actually shooting it by the fall."

Weaver says she doesn't think the delays will hurt the films despite the original having been released in 2009.

"I'm telling you, these scripts are so amazing, I'm not worried about it at all. Am I worried about how we're going to bring them to life? Yes, because they're so ambitious. They're so worth it. They're well worth waiting for. I'm not worried about that at all. We're trying to get it done as quickly as possible."

Weaver will return to Pandora for the sequels as a new character.

After being pushed back several times, the sequel had been last announced to be slated for 2018 but that is obviously no longer possible. It's now expected 'Avatar 2' will be released in late 2019 or 2020.

Cameron, who recently completed writing all four scripts for the follow-up films, expects to use a camera that handles 3D and 4K at 120 frames per second.
