Australian Officials Target Britney Spears' Lip-Synching

Britney Spears (photosBritney Spears photos) is taking flak from Australian officials after a number of fans were reportedly upset about the quality of the singer's performance and even walked out her show in Perth.

Disgruntled concertgoers aren't happy with the obvious lip-syncing during the dance numbers, as well as the 'impersonal' feel of her concerts.

One fan, Wendy Di Renzo, complains that after paying $148 for her ticket, it could have been anyone she was watching: "It was so impersonal. She did not interact with her audience. There were no big TV screens projecting the action, so if you didn't know Britney, you might have even doubted it was her."

"It was a waste of $200. I could have got four pairs of shoes for that," complains another woman.

Virginia Judge, the Minister for Fair Trading in the state, says she wants to make sure fans aren't misled when buying tickets to Britney's Circus tour, which are rumored to be going for as high as $1,300.

"It is Britney's 'prerogative' to lip-sync, and it is my job to make sure consumers know what they are paying for up front," says Judge said in a statement.

Tour promoter Paul Dainty says he doesn't believe large numbers of fans are upset: "It's the biggest lie I've ever heard. I'm so angry. We can take heat if there's something wrong and people can review shows badly -- that's something you have to live with -- but to say people stormed out of the show was an absolute fabrication."

Spears' manager, Adam Leber, blames a sole Australian journalist for stretching the truth and making it an issue: "It's unfortunate that one journalist in Perth didn't enjoy the show last night. Fortunately the other 18,272 fans in attendance did."
