Army Apologizes For Man Charged With Stalking Ryan Seacrest

The US Army is apologizing after prosecutors brought felony charges against a man who allegedly stalked Ryan Seacrest, and even showed up at the 'American Idol' host's studio and attacked one of his bodyguards.

The 25-year-old, Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr., who is assigned to a special forces unit, faces up to four years in prison if convicted of the stalking charge.

"We apologize to Ryan Seacrest. Pending the outcome of the local investigation, the Army will decide what further action to take. We take all matters of our personnel seriously," reads a statement.

The man was arrested after he appeared at the radio studio with a knife and tried to meet Seacrest.

"His aggressive and violent efforts to come into physical contact with me are extremely frightening to me," Seacrest explains in the filing for a restraining order. "They have jeopardized not only my personal safety, but also the safety and well-being of those around me."

This isn't the first time Uzomah has gotten in trouble for his Seacrest obsession either. He also plead guilty in September to assault and battery after he tried to meet Seacrest after an event.

Uzomah is a sergeant in the US Army Reserve and serves as a combat medic. He first joined Army National Guard in 2005 and was honorably discharged earlier this year, but returned to the Reserve in August.

He is currently in jail on $150,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
