Archie Comics and 'Glee' To Meet In Crossover Issue

The world of Archie and 'Glee' will collide in a planned collaboration between the long-running comics and the musical FX show.

Jon Goldwater, the co-chief executive officer for the comics, says the crossover will be written by 'Glee' writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and is set for late this year or in early 2013.

"I've become friendly with Roberto - he's just a genius writer," says Goldwater. "It turns out he's been a fan of Archie for years. His most recent Halloween costume? He was dressed as Archie!"

Archie comics has tried to expand its universe in recent years with the introduction of an openly-gay character, Kevin Keller, and the character's relationship with Valerie Smith, the bassist for Josie and the Pussycats.

The pair fell in love while the bands were touring together, making her Archie's first black girlfriend. They soon got married and have a daughter together.

"Those have reintroduced a lot of people back to 'Archie,'" says Goldwater. "And it's opened a whole new world of people coming to 'Archie' for the first time, too."
