Anthony Bourdain's Cooking Competition 'The Taste' To Premiere Tuesday

With the success of 'MasterChef', 'Hell's Kitchen', 'Top Chef' and a host of other cooking competition series, ABC is finally entering the kitchen with its own culinary competition.

Premiering on Tuesday night, 'The Taste' will feature no-holds barred chef Anthony Bourdain, British food star Nigella Lawson, 'Ludo Bites America's Ludo Lefebvre and former 'Top Chef' competitor Brian Malarkey dissecting the plates of 16 competitors from pro chefs to home cooks.

The four culinary experts and mentors will each coach a team of four competing cooks as they vie to create the best tasting dish. In each episode the groups will face team and individual challenges with a variety of themes through elimination rounds.

At the end of each episode, the mentors will have to judge the competitors' dishes blind -- with no knowledge of whose creation they're sampling, what they're eating, how it was prepared or whom they could be sending home. You could call it a combination of 'MasterChef' and 'The Voice'.

In the series premiere, the four mentors will put 29 professional chefs and home cooks through their first round of blind taste tests -- in which a single spoonful will decide whether or not they make it past the auditions.

With a proven personality like Bourdain, who could be called the Simon Cowell of food shows, 'The Taste' could deliver for ABC. It premieres with a two-hour episode Tuesday at 8 PM.
