Andy Serkis Talks 'Potential War' In Next 'Planet of the Apes'

Andy Serkis says although Caesar didn't want war, he couldn't stop the inevitable in 'Dawn Planet of the Apes'.

And as the screenplay for the next film is completed, Serkis says he knows what's coming next.

"What we are hoping to do in this next story is to cement Caesar's position in Ape history. To make him a mythic character, almost like Moses," Reeves tells THR.

"It's going to press into some very painful emotional places for him."

"The ape community has fallen apart. There's potential war."

"He's going to have to lead the apes in darker times. I think it's going to be very powerful."

The third installment in the 'Planet of the Apes' prequel doesn't have a release date yet but it was quickly greenlighted after 'Dawn' was both a critical and commercial success after earning over $700 million worldwide on a budget of just $170 million for a visual effects heavy film.
