Amy Schumer: I Asked For More But Don't Deserve Equal Pay To Chris Rock
Schumer admits she asked the streaming service to pay her more once she learned that Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle were being paid significantly more for their stand-up specials. Rock and Chapelle were reportedly paid $20 million for their specials while Schumer, whose star had risen thanks to her Emmy win for 'Inside Amy Schumer', was paid $11 million for 'The Leather Special'. Schumer says Netflix upped the offer when she objected to it but agrees that she didn't think she deserved to be paid the same as veteran comedians Rock and Chapelle. "I believe women deserve equal pay. However I don't believe I deserve equal pay to Chris and Dave," Schumer tells fans on social media. "Chris and Dave are legends and 2 of the greatest comics of all time. I would like to say that I have been selling out arenas these last couple years. Something a female comic has never done." "That's a big deal to me, especially because I know I do my best every night on stage for the audience and they have a good time." "I didn't ask for the same as my friends. I did ask for more than the initial offer," she notes. "I will continue to work my ass off and be the best performer I can be. The reports of me 'demanding' or 'insisting' on equal pay to them aren't true." Amy Schumer is publicly commenting on her rumored salary renegotiation for her stand-up special with Netflix.
