Amy Poehler Reveals Details About Her 'Office'-Style Sitcom

Amy Poehler says she's excited about being able to "turn the volume down a little bit and sit with a character."

In the still-untitled new series set in the world of local government from 'Office' executive producer Greg Daniels, the former 'Saturday Night Live' cast member will play Leslie Knope, a "mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana."

The mockumentary-style comedy series won't focus on national politics, but will instead focus on the comedy in day to day operations at a government office in an American town.

In the show, Leslie works to improve her town and advance her career -- wanting to eventually become the first female President of the United States -- by helping a local nurse, played by Rashida Jones (photosRashida Jones photos), turn a construction pit into a park, all the while being opposed by defensive bureaucrats, neighbors and developers.

One funny line from the released snippets of the pilot is when a Muslim government official, tries to explain how he got the name 'Tom Haverford' after being born as Aziz Abdul Al'Rahman: "The cold hard fact is that dark-skinned people with funny-sounding Muslim names just don't make it very far in politics. Yes, OK, fine, Barack Obama. Why does everyone always bring up Barack Obama? That's one counter example!"

Production on the show is expected to star on February 19, but the script is reported to be solid with the humor very much in style with 'The Office'.
