'American Idol' To Launch Trading Cards Line

Soon 'American Idol' fans will be able to trade a hundred William Hung's for one Carrie Underwood.

'American Idol' production company FremantleMedia has teamed up with trading card publisher Upper Deck to issue a set of 138 cards of the Top 2 finalists from each of the last seven seasons and some fan favorites who didn't quite make the cut, such as the infamous William Hung.

"The 'American Idol' brand has always been really strong in the interactive space," says FremantleMedia's Nora Wong. "With the trading cards, it's an old school way of interacting with the fans. It's another form of expression for the fans to demonstrate their connection with the show and collect their favorites."

Six cards autographed by past contestants will also be randomly included into the five-card packs. which will not only feature past and current contestants, but also the judges and host of the Fox singing competition.

The trading cards line is set to debut on April 21. The 'Idol' finale is expected to air on May 6.
