'American Idol' Producers Address Nicki Minaj-Mariah Carey Feud

'American Idol' producers say they are fully behind the season twelve judging panel, even if Nicki Minaj (photosNicki Minaj photos) and Mariah Carey (photosMariah Carey photos) are at each other's throats.

"This is one of the best, most passionate, dynamic and invested judging panels we've ever had," the show's producers say in a statement.

"We love and support all of the judges and the fantastic work they are doing, and we can't imagine a better group to find the next American Idol."

"Despite all the accusations and media speculation—much of which is inaccurate—production is going extremely well today and the judges are focused on finding the best talent here in Baton Rouge."

Of course, there's not much chance of inaccuracies when a video of Minaj cussing out Carey leaks from the auditions followed by Carey telling Barbara Walters that Minaj threatened to shoot her.

Last week, Keith Urban chalked up the spat to "passionate" artists.

"I love it, I gotta say," he told 'Extra'. "I love working with passionate people. I love artists. Everyone just sort of expressing themselves. It's a very alive and very invigorating work environment."

Although it definitely can't be bad for ratings when the show returns in January.
