American Film Institute Picks Its Top Movies and TV Shows For 2012

The American Film Institute has announced its picks the top 10 movies and TV shows of 2012.

The list of movies include choices that have been touted since their first screenings like 'Argo', 'Les Miserables' and 'Life of Pi' but also some less expected films such as 'The Dark Knight Rises', 'Django Unchained' and 'Moonrise Kingdom'.

Meanwhile, the television side brings together all the usual suspects.

The organization says its honorees "are selected based on works which best advance the art of the moving image, enhance the rich cultural heritage of America's art form, inspire audiences and artists alike, make a mark on American society and represent the year's most outstanding achievements in film and television."
