Amber Heard Avoids Jail In Johnny Depp Australian Dog Smuggling Case

Amber Heard (photosAmber Heard photos), actress and Johnny Depp's wife, pleaded guilty to providing a false immigration document but managed to avoid jail on Monday.

Her lawyer said she never meant to lie but didn't do so because she was jetlagged and assumed her assistants sorted out the paperwork.

This after prosecutors dropped two more serious charges that the couple illegally imported the Yorkshire terriers and smuggled them into the country when Depp was filming the fifth movie in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' series.

The false documents charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a fine of more than 10,000 Australian dollars. However, Heard was sentenced to just a one-month good behavior bond that also got rid of the fine.

The actress will only pay a $1,000 fine if she commits any offenses in Australia over the next month.

Deep and Heard didn't released a video ahead of the hearing that complimented Australia and aimed to show they were sorry. It was posted by the Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources.

"When you disrespect Australian law, they will tell you firmly," Deep said in the clip that was also played in court. "Declare everything when you enter Australia."

The dog drama was dubbed the "war on terrier" when Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce accused Depp of smuggling the tiny terriers aboard his private jet to avoid quarantine regulations.

"If we start letting movie stars - even though they've been the sexiest man alive twice - to come into our nation (with pets), then why don't we just break the laws for everybody?" Joyce said at the time. "It's time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States."
