Documentary Director Alex Gibney Wants Scientology To Lose Tax-Exempt Status

Documentary film director and producer Alex Gibney tells Seth Meyers that it's about time Scientology loses its tax-exempt status as a religion.

"They were fighting to the death to get this tax exemption which they did, in many ways, by bugging the offices of the Department of Justice, the IRS and going after individuals," says Gibney.

"And the IRS buckled and said 'Okay, you can have it.' But the result is now that you have a church -- that is very aggressively dedicated to threatening, harassing and abusing people -- being afforded a tax exempt status. To me, it doesn't make any sense at all."
