Actors Blast President Trump's Immigration Ban at SAG Awards

SAG Awards was more about the politics than the awards on Sunday night.

It didn't take long for those on the red carpet and the stage to criticize President Donald Trump's executive order barring nationals and refugees from seven countries from entering the United States.

'The Big Bang Theory' star Simon Helberg and his wife, actress Jocelyn Towne, began the night on the red carpet with a sign that read: "Refugees welcome" with the words "Let Them In" across his wife's chest.

When Ashton Kutcher took the stage to introduce the show, he welcomed "everyone in airports that belong in my America."

"You are part of the fabric of who we are, and we love you and we welcome you. And we also welcome you to the 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards." he joked.

As Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the award for Best Actress in a Comedy series for HBO's 'Veep', she joked that whether the Russians "did or did not hack" the awards and "this award is legitimate and I won. I'm the winner, the winner is me. Landslide!"

Getting serious, she added that she was "horrified" by the immigrant ban.

"My father fled religious persecution in Nazi-occupied France," she said. "I am American patriot. I love this country and because I love this country, I am horrified by its blemishes. And this immigrant ban is a blemish and it is un-American."

Mahershala Ali, who has been raking in the awards for his portrayal in 'Moonlight', also delved into the subject.

"When we get caught up in the minutiae and the details that make us all different, I think there's two ways of seeing that. There's the opportunity to see the texture of that person, the characteristics that make them unique, and then there's an opportunity to go to war about it and say that this person is different from me, I don't like you, let's battle."

"I'm a Muslim," he said. "We put things to the side... we love each other."

William H. Macy, who won for Shameless, joked he wanted to "thank President Trump for making Frank Gallagher seem so normal."
