Academy President: Chris Rock Totally 'Gonna Go There' In Oscars Monologue

Academy Awards host Chris Rock has been relatively silent since the Oscars diversity controversy broke.

But Academy Awards president Cheryl Boone Isaacs says Rock isn't going to shy away from it on the awards show.

"Well, we've always known he was gonna go there, right? This is Chris," Isaacs tells THR.

"We know who he is. He is a brilliant, brilliant, observant comedian and performer, and he is a brilliant host."

"And yes, we want him to, obviously, because way before this, our selection of Chris was to bring some edge and some fun and some funny—intelligent funny—to the telecast. So we know he's going to do that."

Rock's publicist has stayed mum about how the controversy will affect Rock's monologue.

"All will be revealed on February 28th," the publicist told us. "We will not comment further on this topic."
