‘Victoria Secret’ Pajama Party Canceled By Community Outrage

A 'pajama party' for "the grown and sexy" was to be held at a local community center on Thanksgiving day in Lawnside, New Jersey -- but it was cancelled at the last minute due to outrage by the community.

The party, for guests 18 and older, was to begin at 9 p.m. at the borough's Wayne Bryant Community Center. A card advertising the "Victoria Secrets & Joe Boxer Pajama Party" featured several scantily clad models and said the event would be free to women in Victoria's Secret attire and that prizes would be given for the best outfits

Councilman-elect Clinton Higgs Jr. said the party wasn't meant for his community: "Particularly on a family-oriented day like Thanksgiving, it's inappropriate."

And Councilwoman-elect Willa Cole-trane agreed: "People have moved here because of Lawnside's reputation as a nice, quiet, family-oriented municipality," she said. "Getting people from different regions together dressed like that, it's just a matter of time before somebody says something to somebody's girlfriend,"

"If this becomes a precedent, what's next -- topless dancing or lap dancing?," she said.
